Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If my child is sick, will I still be billed for lessons?
A: Yes. Batchelder’s Studios of the Arts looks at it as you are reserving this spot for your child – just like daycare policies. However, if you can give a 24 hours’ notice, then you have the option of a make-up (although only 2 are allowed each semester); but if no 24 hours’ notice is given, there is no chance for a make-up.
Q: If I am going on vacation, will I still be billed for the lessons missed?
A: No. All you need to do is fill out a ‘Suspension Form’ which are provided at the front desk, but your teacher may also get one for you. Please note the forms must be filled out and handed in before you leave, and the earlier, the better. However, if you are planning on missing only one lesson, a form is not necessary, simply notify your teacher and s/he can discuss your options with you.
Q: What happens if there is inclement weather?
A: Keep an eye on our App and Facebook page. We put all our notifications there!
Q: Do I really need to give 30 days’ notice if I or my child is terminating lessons?
A: Yes. We ask this to ensure the accounting side is accurate. However, the ‘Termination Form’ does not have to be completed at the beginning of the month. Whenever you decide, we just need 30 days’ notice, regardless of the actual time of month.
Q: The Batchelder’s Studios of the Arts enrollment sheet says that we must commit to a year, is this true?
A: No. Lessons are on a month to month basis; however, we do encourage at least a year’s enrollment in order to see steady progress and to instill the love of music-making in the student.
Q: I love my teacher, but the time doesn’t work for us anymore. What should I do?
A: Discuss with your teacher. S/he will be more than happy to find a time that works for you!
Q: I and/or my child is just not clicking with the teacher. What should I do?
A: You can talk with your teacher and see if there is something the teacher could do better, or if you feel uncomfortable, talk to the Executive Director of the Studios, it’s her job to find the right fit for you!
Q: Do you have recitals?
A: Yes! At the end of every spring and fall session (May and December). Students are strongly encouraged to participate, but are not required.
Q: Is there a sibling/family discount?
A: Yes. You will receive $5 off for each member of the family (or for each added class) up to three.
It has been a wonderful experience working with Batchelder’s Outreach Education Program. Their professionalism, flexibility, and affordability have been a perfect fit for our school and our academic goals. The band director, Mrs. Decker, is particularly fantastic! Our students have benefited tremendously from this additional music opportunity, and their progress continues to amaze parents and concert attendees. We thank you for all you do!Steve G.
The staff here is always so welcoming and friendly even on the gloomiest of days, and I have learned so much in the five months that I have been coming here! Batchelder’s is truly a great place to broaden your musical horizon!Anna-Claire E.
